Repiping with PEX

When old pipes keep leaking, rust the water or choke the pressure, replacing them is often the smarter fix. We repipe homes and buildings with PEX.

What we do

PEX is a flexible plastic water pipe used widely in homes today. It doesn't rust, it needs fewer fittings than rigid pipe, and it can usually be run through the attic and walls instead of under the slab — which matters with the shifting soil in our area.

  • Whole-house water line repipes
  • Partial repipes and reroutes — one bathroom, one side of the house, or around a slab leak
  • Replacing galvanized, polybutylene and failing copper lines
  • New shut-off valves and supply connections at each fixture
  • Main water line replacement from the meter to the house

Common problems we see

Repeat leaks

If you've had more than one slab or wall leak, the rest of the pipe is likely the same age and condition.

Galvanized steel pipe

Common in older homes. It rusts from the inside, causing low pressure and brown water.

Polybutylene pipe

Gray plastic pipe used in some homes built from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s. It has a reputation for failing without warning.

Weak pressure everywhere

When every fixture is weak, narrowed old pipe is a common cause.

What to expect

  1. Walk-through and estimate. We look at the existing pipe, how the house is built and where new lines can run, then give you a written price.
  2. Plan the work. We go over how long the water will be off, which rooms we need to get into, and how wall openings will be handled.
  3. Install and connect. New lines are run and connected to each fixture with new shut-offs, then pressure-tested.
  4. Inspection and walk-through. Where a permit is required, the work is inspected. We show you the new system and where the main shut-off is.

When to call

  • You've had a second leak in a few years.
  • Your water runs brown or rusty, especially first thing in the morning.
  • You're buying an older home that still has its original pipe.
  • You're planning a remodel — it's the easiest time to replace pipe while walls are open.
